Jalen Hurts has officially put his name into the NCAA transfer portal as of today, January 9th. According to Las Vegas odds makers Miami isn’t one of the top 12 teams to land the former Alabama QB and national champion.

Within in the last hour or so Jalen Hurts has followed HC Manny Diaz and star Freshman TE Brevin Jordan on Twitter. Now normally I wouldn’t overreact to social media trends when it comes to recruits but a grad transfer is different than a HS senior. As of now Diaz and Jordan are the only coach and or player Hurts has followed since announcing his plans to transfer.

This doesn’t mean Miami is landing him by any means but it’s a positive sign for Manny Diaz and this mystery OC.

Hurts would currently have to beat out N’Kosi Perry, Jarren Williams and Cade Weldon for the starting job but with his pedigree and production that shouldn’t be too hard for him.

Landing a player like Jalen Hurts could fast forward success for Manny Diaz and the Miami Hurricanes.

Hurts is a grad transfer and can play immediately at his new school of choice.

Francois going for that Rix title for most annoying FSU QB of all time. Hurts to UM because of Francois' instagram decision to suddenly be a leader instead of taking classes and going to team meetings would ice the cake.

If Hurts comes to Miami that means Williams will likely be gone. I am not sure how I feel about him just yet, in my opinion, all the other QB's we have on the roster right now suck. Hurts would be an improvement for the short term tho.

Sadly I agree with the fact Williams would transfer if Hurts did indeed come to Miami. He’s for sure a good bridge QB to the next guy but Perry/Weldon isn’t that guy IMO at all. Williams would still have 3 years to play if he sat another year and learning and working on his body and game would only benefit him more.

Cant be scared of someone transferring. Miami needs to improve the quarterback room. Hurts does that. I would hope that Jarren would want to stay and compete. Manny said everything was a clean slate. To me that means there will be a competition for every position. Can we go into a season with Williams, Perry and Weldon? How confident are we that Perry will make it through an entire offseason? Too many questions to not take Hurts.
